One woman’s quest to help Vietnamese farmers extract nectar from their coconut crops shrunk by climate change

In the lush heart of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, drought and saltwater intrusion are threatening the vital coconut crop, devastating livelihoods. One farmer’s daughter has turned to science for help, discovering how to save the shrinking coconuts by harvesting their nectar instead.

Sen Nguyen is a Vietnamese journalist, podcast and documentary producer. She produces features and investigations about Vietnam and Southeast Asia more broadly for reputable global outlets including CNN, Al Jazeera and South China Morning Post. She holds a master’s in migration and diaspora studies from SOAS University of London as a Chevening scholar.
