More than 30 students from Hong Kong Baptist University spent three days at our London bureau in January 2025 where they took part in a series of workshops with CNN journalists. They were also set the challenge of writing a TV news bulletin and then delivering it in our state of the art studio.
The students were given an introduction to CNN and a tour of our newsroom and studio at our London bureau. Workshops included:
The students were split up into groups and given five pieces of wire copy. They were asked to decide on a running order and the write five 20-second scripts. Once completed, the students were asked to nominate an anchor and a correspondent. They then outputted their bulletin in the CNN studio and control room.
Hong Kong Baptist College was founded by the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong in 1956 as a post-secondary college committed to the provision of a whole person education. In 1983, it became a fully-funded public tertiary institution, and the College gained university status just over a decade later. It was renamed Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) in 1994.
